Effigy Mounds Offers Junior Ranger Programs
Posted 27 August 2008
Effigy Mounds National Monument is proud to present the annual summer Junior Ranger Program. Events for children interested in the National Park Junior Ranger program will be scheduled each Saturday morning at 10 a.m. throughout the summer. Each week the participants will be invited to learn something different about the natural world, American Indian culture, and the national park system.

This week's program, on Saturday, Aug. 30, is Nature Detective.

The children will have an opportunity to earn National Park badges, patches, and certificates along with learning more about the world that surrounds them.

Effigy Mounds National Monument preserves over 200 prehistoric American Indian mounds, including some that are shaped as animals.

For more information visit the web site at www.nps.gov/efmo or call the monument at (563) 873-3491. The monument's visitor center is located three miles north of Marquette and 22 miles south of Waukon on Highway 76.
